Luis Guzman

Still Air

10 January - 27 February 2021

The exhibition invites you to discover the symbolic and luminous universe of the Colombian artist.

Luis Guzman's work is inspired by classical (including Renaissance) paintings of a religious nature. His works balance between the playful and the symbolic, the mystical and the aesthetic, the erotic and the sacred. Like the facets of a prism, these perspectives seek to condense different sources of light and unite them into a single ray. In several series of paintings, the representation of this ray may even suggest this moment of clarity.

The objects or images that we consider sacred are nothing more than instruments with which we connect the human and the divine, a bridge that allows access to alternatives of realities, which at the same time speaks to us about ourselves. In these series, through a playful attitude, the artist sanctifies painting: as a path, as an enigma, as art, as a method.

May the painting be holy, may all the paths that enlighten us be holy!
